At the Dutch Design Week 2016 in Eindhoven, the Netherlands, studio MEGAN presented the project ALPHABET. ALPHABET is a hybrid publication which uses the alphabet as content. It was a presentation of the new studio and a demonstration of what a hybrid publication can be.
At the exposition ‘Temporal’ in Klokgebouw Room 2, the work of participants of Driving Dutch Design ’16 was presented.
This hybrid publication consists of a poster series, 4 blocks and an ebook presented on an iPad.
The alphabet was one of the first media developed by humans, and is this the basis of all our new and old media. The letters is the publication are deconstructed and accompanied by quotes by Marshall McLuhan from the book ‘The Medium is the Massage’. The deconstructing of the letters makes the letters more abstract and forces the spectator to redefine the shapes.
At the Dutch Design Week one could send a Twitter letter from the ALPHABET ebook, check out @ALPHABET_PUB to see what letters were posted the most: My Tweets
