hybrid publications

An hybrid publication can be seen as part of the future of design and publishing.

Nowadays a designer, when designing for multiple media, has to design for every medium separately and in different code or programs. This takes up a lot of time and often the assignment is past on to anther company. A hybrid publication can be the solution to this problem: one program or coding language where the designer can pull out designs for different media. Unfortunately, this is stil a future scenario. The art school in Rotterdam, the Netherlands, is currently doing research with the team Hybrid Publishing Practices, studio MEGAN has designed an ebook and is currently working on a hybrid publication for this institution.

The basis of an Hybrid Publication is one publication with multiple outcomes, both analogue and digital. With one design, but often different structures.
